Saturday, February 28 @ 2:00-3:30, Lindner Classroom

Registration Fee: $45

Ages: 16+. Anyone under 18 must have a guardian present with them to sign a liability waiver.

In this joyful, hands-on workshop, Jennifer Myka of Free Radical Fiber Arts invites participants to create vibrant fiber flowers inspired by the colors and textures that draw pollinators to the garden. Using a blend of needle felting and simple hand-sewing techniques (no prior experience needed), students will shape soft, dimensional blooms that celebrate nature, creativity, and care.

Participants will work with a rich selection of materials, including core wool, roving, hand-dyed long locks of Suri alpaca and Teeswater wool, pre-cut fabric, and wire, learning how to layer color and texture to bring each flower to life. Jennifer will guide you step by step, sharing approachable techniques and creative options along the way.

Once your flowers are complete, you’ll choose how to finish your piece – either by assembling a small, three-dimensional bouquet or creating a vase-style fiber scene with fabric and paper, ready to be framed. (8”x10” frames will be available for purchase, or you’re welcome to bring your own.)

All materials needed for the workshop are provided, including shared hand-sewing tools and needle-felting kits (with tools and additional materials available for optional purchase). By the end of the workshop, participants will create at least 2-3 finished fiber flowers and the elements needed to complete either a bouquet or a frame-ready wall-art piece – a handmade celebration of color, texture, and the beauty that sustains pollinators.
