Charlie Berger
Painting with Pan Pastels
Fridays from 9-12pm
2026 Dates TBD
This is the best way to get to know this new medium – a combination of drawing and painting using powdered pigment and a range of soft mark-making tools. The dry materials and ease of application will open you up to a new world of painting! You’ll learn the benefits of color mixing with a limited palette -- how to start with a strong composition -- and get much better at effective color mixing. We’ll focus on developing a strong composition and effective color application, but our primary focus will be learning to paint more loosely and with greater confidence. In this small-group session you'll take your abilities to a higher level with three hours of concentrated exploration and significant personal feedback each week. You’ll return to your studio with confidence and the skills to make strong, personal paintings. Please call, text or email to reserve your place and receive valuable info on the tools and supplies you’ll need. This workshop is for artists who have some previous experience in drawing and/or painting. Please text or email to receive the Materials List. $210 for the session.

Figure Drawing
Saturdays from 9-12pm
2026 Dates TBD
Participants will work from direct perception of professional nude models, predominantly in long poses, to create studies, sketches and more finished drawings. Group and individual instruction will focus on observation, measurement, gesture and the geometry of the human figure. We will build our skills in using contour and cross-contour while recognizing proportion, foreshortening, and the use of tonal value to define form and create mood and expression. Class fee includes the model fee. Limited to 10 participants. $215. To ask questions or discuss your creative needs and goals, please call, text or email.
