Bio
Mary Louise Holt has a BFA degree and was an honors graduate from the College of Mount Saint Joseph with a focus on illustration and graphic design. She started her career as a commercial and editorial illustrator and courtroom sketch artist for local and national television. But a lifelong interest in natural history compelled her to pursue a new career creating exhibits for nature centers, museums and other institutions involved in environmental education.
Through careful research she also created a series of compelling depictions of the Eastern American Wilderness, wildlife and native people as they existed before European settlement. She has often been invited to lecture on the subject to various institutions and organizations, providing visual depictions from that series of paintings.
Mary Louise Holt's original paintings and exhibits, inspired by natural history have been exhibited in national and international art competitions as well as several prestigious institutions and museums in the United States and abroad.
Currently, she is creating nine original paintings that will be reproduced, published and used to visually teach elementary to university level students about the ecology of the eastern half of the United States. To learn more about her work you can visit her website at www.marylouiseholt.com.
